PDA: Developing Literacies Learning Programmes for the Workplace

                 

What is the PDA: Developing Literacies Learning Programmes for the Workplace?

This Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) qualification at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 7 is designed to develop participant’s, skills knowledge and understanding of the principles, processes and practice of developing and planning for the delivery of literacies learning within a workplace context. In particular, participants will:

  • §Develop their knowledge and understanding of the role of literacies learning in a workplace context
  • §Understand approaches to identifying the need for literacies learning delivery in the workplace
  • §Know how to develop effective marketing and promotional strategies to engage all workplace stakeholders in literacies learning
  • §Know how to plan for the delivery of literacies learning programmes in the workplace which meet the needs of employers and employees
  • §Know how to negotiate with employers, employees, and other workplace stakeholders.

What is included in the PDA: Developing Literacies Learning Programmes for the Workplace?

 The qualification consists of three Units:

  • §F2H8 43: Policy and Practice
  • §F2H9 34: Raising Awareness
  • §F2H1 34: Planning for the Delivery of Learning Programmes

Course participants must complete all three Units to achieve the qualification. The course overview is presented below, participants will be provided with:

  • 5 one-day workshop sessions
  • Costs of registration with SQA
  • Course materials and an evidence folder
  • Assessment and verification to achieve the qualification
  • Ongoing support and guidance from experienced course facilitators/assessors.

 

What are the assessment requirements for the PDA: Developing Literacies Learning Programmes for the Workplace?

Unit 1 Policy and Practice: Written answers to a series of questions (1,000 to 1,500 words). The questions allow participants to evidence their knowledge and understanding of the role and process of providing adult literacies learning in a workplace context.

 

Unit 2 Raising Awareness: One report (approximately 1,500 words). The report should describe how to develop a plan aimed at raising awareness of literacies learning in response to the needs of stakeholders within a selected workplace. The workplace may be a real case from their current work activities, from previous interaction with an employer or a simulated scenario.

Unit 3 Planning for the Delivery of Learning Programmes: One report (approximately 2,500 words), the report should describe how to plan for the design, delivery and evaluation of a literacies learning programme in a selected workplace. The workplace may be a real case from their current work activities, from previous interaction with an employer, or a simulated scenario.
